What is Queerstion Media?

A Brief Overview

Queerstion Media is a trans-, queer-, and refugee-led media and community organisation based in Sweden. We work at the intersection of storytelling, independent media, advocacy, wellbeing, creative expression, and movement building to amplify the voices, experiences, and leadership of LGBTQIA+ refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and displaced communities.
We create spaces where people with lived experience of displacement can tell their own stories, shape public narratives, build connections, and participate in creating social change.

Queerstion Media builds community-led platforms that support LGBTQIA+ refugees and migrants through:

- Storytelling and independent media production
- Community journalism and narrative change
- Advocacy and public engagement
- Collective care and wellbeing initiatives
- Leadership development and empowerment
- Arts, culture, and creative expression
- Movement building and international solidarity

Our work challenges harmful narratives about migration and LGBTQIA+ identities by centring lived experience, dignity, resilience, and self-representation.

Our programmes primarily support LGBTQIA+ refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and newly arrived people.

We also collaborate with allies, journalists, researchers, artists, cultural workers, civil society organisations, and institutions that share our commitment to human rights, inclusion, and community-led change.

Why is storytelling central to your work?

The Importance of Storytelling

We believe storytelling is a form of power.
For many LGBTQIA+ refugees and migrants, their experiences are often spoken about by others through political debates, media narratives, or institutional systems.

Queerstion creates opportunities for people to reclaim their narratives and share their experiences in their own voices.

Through storytelling, we preserve memory, challenge stereotypes, create understanding, support healing, and influence social change.

How can I share my story?

Share your story with us

We welcome contributions from LGBTQIA+ refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, and queer communities.
Stories can be shared through writing, photography, audio, video, interviews, or other creative forms.

We work collaboratively with contributors to ensure stories are shared ethically, safely, and with informed consent.
